Empower Your Community
Join Us in Making a Positive Impact
Positive People Association is a nonprofit community development organization dedicated to enhancing education and health through various artistic expressions. Our mission is to inspire, uplift and empower individuals to become positive thinkers, articulate speakers, and active role models, fostering unity and empowerment within communities. We strive to engage the community by offering resources that develop social and life skills, provide economic and educational support, civic and social responsibility and create opportunities for at-risk adults and youth through our programs and guidance. Our goal is to promote cultural, health, and educational awareness to strengthen and support families.

Our Story
The Positive People Association (PPA) was founded in 1997 to address issues affecting disadvantaged youth in the Huntington, WV community. Its founder, Norman Branch, is a Huntington native and a 1995 graduate of Huntington High School. He then earned a Regents B.A. in Communication studies and a double minor in Psychology and Marketing from Marshall University in 2008. From a young age, Branch was involved with community groups such as the NAACP Youth Leadership and Marshall University Upward Bound. He later attended Marshall University, where he played football for two years.
Branch was passionate about giving back to his community, particularly to lower-income youth. After laying the groundwork for PPA in 1997, he left Huntington to continue his education in Nashville, Tennessee. By 1998, he had started providing programming in Huntington’s Fairfield West Community and throughout the Tri-State area. In 2000, Branch registered the organization with an EIN and, upon completing his studies, returned to Huntington in 2004.

In 2008, he registered PPA with the State of WV as a charitable non-profit organization, and in 2018, he leased the
J.W. Scott Community Center to operate enrichment programs in the Fairfield West Community. PPA has collaborated and partnered with the Community becoming a safe haven and community staple.
